This tour includes several hikes on unpaved paths and leads to heights of up to 3000. The weather in the mountains is changeable and difficult to predict. Sturdy, ankle-high shoes with a profile, comfortable trekking pants and a windproof rain jacket are required.

Tbilisi city tour is the best start of journey. In the historic district of Metekhi, we explore the Assumption Church located on the picturesque hill. Tour continues to the sulfur baths – royal baths complex of XVII-XIX centuries, Our city tour ends with a visit to Mtatsminda Mount by the cable car. This day is going to be the most exciting as we drive to Paravani Lake with its spectacular scenery. The lake is the biggest in the country. Near the lake, we visit the monastery of St. Nino. Tour leads us to Vardzia – cave monastery complex that dates back to the XII century. Recently renovated Rabati Castle was reopened in Akhaltsikhe in August 2012 and now is the main attraction of the town.
After breakfast, we drive to Borjomi – famous resort with amazing nature, where we can try mineral waters from the spring in the Mineral Water Park. Then we drive to Kutaisi, the centre of the Imereti region. we continue to Sataplia Natural Reserve known for its impressing Karst Caves and ancient Colchis woods of unique beauty.
Today we drive to the UNESCO protected region of Upper Svaneti through Zugdidi town. We visit Dadiani Palace in Zugdidi which was once the family estate of Dadiani Dynasty. During the drive, we marvel at the Caucasus Mountains and see the world’s second-highest concrete arch dam – the Enguri dam. After reaching Mestia – the administrative centre of Svaneti we discover the town and visit the History & Ethnographic Museum of Svaneti in order to get in touch with the local history.
Early in the morning we will drive to Koruldi Lakes, from where we will return to Mestia. Late afternoon we drive to Ushguli village – the highest settlement in Europe (2,200 m). In this authentic and mysterious place, we explore some isolated unique towers that are supposed to be the residence of Georgian Queen Tamar. Then we continue to Lamaria Church complex known for its impressive wall frescos (XII century). Here we enjoy the picturesque view of Mount Shkhara – the highest mountain in Georgia. We will spend the night in Ushguli village.
Early in the morning after leaving Ushguli we will drive to Kutaisi through Lower Svaneti. Half an hour’s drive from Kutaisi, we will visit Martvili and Okatse canyons. Okatse Canyon is a deep forested rift carved by the aqua waters of the Okatse River where fragments of rocky escarpment peeking through the dense forest. By contrast, Martvilli Canyon is a cool oasis of slender, mossy trees that hug the low slung walls of the canyon. Funnelled through the rippled cliffs are the deep teal waters that have made this place the tourist attraction it is today. We will spend the night in Kutaisi.
In the morning we drive back to Tbilisi. On the way, we visit Uplistsikhe, This ancient cave town is one of the first towns in Georgia and it dates back to the end of II and the beginning of I millennium BC. We have a stop in sacred Mtskheta town, known as the religious centre of Georgia. Our next architectural wonder is Svetitskhoveli – the cathedral of the XI century, one of the main cathedrals of Georgian Orthodox Church.

This morning we will start our jeep tour in Georgia.
We will travel to historical Mtskheta. Mtskheta is the ancient capital and religious centre of Georgia. In Mtskheta, we will visit the UNESCO World Heritage Sites: Jvari Monastery built in the 6th century and the beautiful Svetitskhoveli Cathedral. Later we visit Svetitskhoveli Cathedral, which is the largest historical building in Georgia among the survivors and leaves a great impression on the visitor. At the end of the day, we will stay in Bakuriani.
On the way from Bakuriani to Tabatskuri we will pass Tskhratskaro pass, which has impressive views. Then, we come to Tabatskuri Lake, which is a peninsula in the lake. Afterward, we will visit Vardzia monastery complex, which is the largest among the rock-carved cities in Georgia and can be easily seen from afar. The monument of Georgian artistic culture of the twelfth-thirteenth century is located in thirteen tiers. Then we will settle in Akhaltsikhe.
This Day we are going to Adjara region through Goderdzi Pass. On the way, we will pass the beautiful villages of mountainous Adjara and enjoy the views of the surrounding mountains, ancient stone bridges, and waterfalls. Then we will settle in Batumi, which is the administrative centre of the region and the second city of Georgia. Batumi is the best example of modern Georgia with its ancient port, beautiful seaside boulevard, old or new architectural buildings, European squares, and streets.
In the morning we will continue our way. We will visit Dadiani Palace in Zugdidi. Built-in the 17th century, the palace is now a state historical-ethnographic museum. A continue trip to Svaneti, which can be considered the culmination of the tour. This region is especially impressive for nature lovers with alpine meadows and lakes, cliffs, peaks, waterfalls, and a variety of endemic flowers. In the evening we stay in Mestia, which is developed as a regional center compared to the villages of Svaneti, although the centuries-old towers retain it’s old look well.
After breakfast, we will drive to Ushguli, which is one of the most beautiful places in Svaneti. Ushguli, surrounded by typical Svanetian towers, is included in the list of UNESCO World Heritage Sites. The highest peak of Georgia “Shkhara” (5068 m) is proudly elevated in front of us. We will visit the 10th-century church of Lamaria, which is the best example of Svanetian architecture. We walk to the tower of Queen Tamar, from where an unforgettable view unfolds. We will spend the night in Ushguli.
In the morning we leave the beautiful village and head to Lentekhi. This route is very beautiful and will make a special impression.
On the eighth day of the trip, we go through the Zekari Pass to the Javakheti region. The route is quite tiring but full of beautiful views and exciting adventures.
In the morning we drive to Stepantsminda. We follow the Georgian Military Road, which is one of the most spectacular routes in Georgia. On the way, we will stop at the colourful Zhinvali Reservoir and visit the beautiful Ananuri complex. In the evening we will stay in Stepantsminda surrounded by mountains.
In the morning we will visit Gergeti Trinity Church (2170 m). With its special location and centuries-old history, it really represents the face of Georgia. The snow-covered glacier (5054 m) gives a special charm to this place. Then, we will reach the village of Juta (2165 m) through the beautiful Sno gorge. Then, we visit the beautiful valley of Truso. This day spent in the wild ends in Stepantsminda.
We leave for Tbilisi in the morning. We have free time in the afternoon for exploring the city.

In the morning, we leave Tbilisi and head north into the mountains along the Georgian Military Highway. We will make stops at Ananuri fortress and Russo-Georgian Friendship monument, then cross the 2379m high Jvari (Cross) pass. Afterward, we will leave the main road and after a short off-road ride, will leave our cars at the Kvemo Okrokana village to make a 4-5 hours long hike in the abandoned Truso valley. After returning to our cars, we will ride to the Stepantsminda (Kazbegi) village, where we will enjoy a dinner and spend a night at the local guesthouse.
Today, we will ride a jeep to the incredibly photogenic Gergeti Trinity church, probably the most famous Georgian landmark. From here, we will trek further up and climb Kazbegi massif towards the Gergeti glacier. If the weather cooperates, we will enjoy stunning views of surrounding mountains dominated by 5033m high Mt. Kazbek. Night at Kazbegi.
After breakfast, we will take a car to the Juta village. From here, we will hike towards the imposing Chaukhi massif (3688), known as the “Georgian Dolomites”. After we reach small Chaukhi lake situated beneath the ridge, we will refresh ourselves at the local pub and return to Juta. Then we will drive back to Tbilisi – will be back right for the evening tour of the Old City.
Today, we head to the Georgian wine region Kakheti. First, we will visit Alaverdi monastery which, until recently, was the highest religious building in Georgia (which is quite a feat since the monastery itself dates back to 10th century). In its vicinity, we will visit Georgia potter creating kvevri, traditional Georgian wine vessels and also taste Georgian milk products. After a brief visit to the Gremi castle, we will take a tour in the famous wine tunnel at the Khareba winery (miles-spanning tunnels, but only small part is accessible so it won´t take that long). The next stop will be Numisi Winery, where we will see a museum, do wine tasting and take a workshop of Georgian food. Finally, we will drive to Sighnaghi, where we will enjoy traditional Georgian dinner at local guesthouse.
Tour of Sighnaghi town and after we get hungry, we will drive for lunch at Simonai Zaoti in traditional georgian supra arrangement with wine drinking and toasts (and singing if you feel for that). Then we will make a visit to Zegani Monastery and drive to Tbilisi.
Today, we drive to the west. After several hours on the road, our first stop will be the medieval rock city of Uplistsikhe. Afterwards, we will make a short stop for a khachapuri for a quick lunch (since this is a pretty busy day), where we will also pay a short visit of marble-encased birth house of Josiph Stalin. Then we will drive to Chiatura, derelict mining town famous for it’s cable cars system. Not far from it lies 40 meters tall limestone pillar Katskhi. Finally, we will reach Kutaisi, where we will spend a night at the local guesthouse.
After hearthy breakfast, we will visit cathedrals Gelati and Motsameta, some of the finest examples of Georgian architecture. Then we will drive to Martvili canyon, where we will enjoy a short boat ride through the gorge. From here starts the last etappe of our journey to Svaneti – along the route, we will make a stop to marvel Engeri dam, the second tallest concrete dam in the world and in the afternoon will finally reach Mestia, the regional center of Svaneti.
Before noon, we will have some time to explore Mestia on foot. We will stroll around the rebuilt city center and visit one of city´s three museums. Before noon, we will ride the Hatsvali cable car to the top of Zuruldi ridge, from where we can admire Ushba, one of the most prominent peaks of Greater Caucasus while sitting at the local restaurant . Then will come time to stretch our legs – we will traverse Zuruldi ridge to the old Mentashi transmitter and carefully descend to reconnect another trail below. This trail will lead us through beautiful meadows and forests to the Tsvirmi village, where we will spend the night.
In the morning, we will drive to Adishi village,where today´s hike starts. First, we will follow Adischala river deeper into the valley, then cross it and initiate the arduous climb to the Chkhunderi pass (2650m). During the climb open better and better views of Mt. Tetnuldi, Adishchala valley and the glacier and from the top comes into view also Mt. Shkhara, the highest Georgian mountain. We will descend to the other side, into the Khaldechala valley to Khalde village, center of the largest 19th anti-Tzarist revolt (which was suppressed and village burned out and depopulated). Here, we will board jeeps again and drive last 20 km to famous Ushguli, where we will spend a night.
Today, you can choose from two available programs. One option is to join our guide to climb Gorvashi pass above the Ushguli village, at the altitude of 2950m. Another option is the horse trek to the Shkhara glacier with a horse guide. No matter which option you choose, you will return to the Ushguli not long after the noon and after the hearthy lunch, we will board the jeep to ride to another famous Svan village, Mazeri, lying in the shadow of Mt. Ushba. Night at Mazeri guesthouse.

Our next destination is Batumi, bustling city at the Black Sea. We spend nice evening there, exploring the famous promenade and have a dinner at the local restaurant. Night at Batumi hotel.
Today, we will further explore Batumi and its most remarkable sights. Then, after a pleasant lunch at the local restaurant, we board cars again and brace for a long ride to Tbilisi.
